Assistant Media Buyer

About the role

We are looking for a part-time Assistant Media Buyer to support our advertising department in the planning and delivery of client advertising campaigns. This is an ideal entry-level role into the advertising industry with the potential to progress to become a media buyer.

Salary

£24,000-27,000 FTE per annum depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in coordinating, developing and implementing media plans for clients
  • Using research tools to collect and organize information for media planning
  • Collaborating with Head Planner to issue buying specification and authorisation
  • Maintain professional relationship with clients and organise their meetings as required
  • Assisting in budget preparation and allocation for different media
  • Maintaining budget reports and controlling expenses within allotted budget
  • Evaluating campaign performance data and recommend improvements
  • Reporting campaign assets and ad tags to clients
  • Maintaining complete and accurate media planning records
  • Reviewing print advertisements, promotional materials and ad placements
  • Contacting publishers and agencies to coordinate timing and placement of ads

Location & commitments

  • Permanent part-time role with hybrid office (Poole – Dorset) and home working
  • Monday – Friday (5 hours each day between 09:30 – 15:00)

Candidate requirements

  • Ability to work independently in a proactive manner
  • Have a keen eye for detail
  • Strong computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Numerical capability
  • Good understanding of analytics
  • Understanding of budgets and exchange rates

Qualifications

Candidates with relevant qualifications in journalism, psychology, business studies, public relations, media studies, marketing or management are desirable. However, a lack of qualifications aren’t necessarily a barrier to entry if you can demonstrate strong interpersonal, organisation and project management skills, and an interest in the media.

Work experience in related fields including journalism or marketing offers transferable skills to a career in advertising and is therefore considered.

Pre-entry work experience is desirable in advertising, marketing, and communications areas through:

Any sales experience will also be useful and part-time work that demonstrates your people skills and ability to communicate effectively with others is also valuable.
