Saltwater Stone was recommended to Inmarsat’s maritime marketing team to create marketing content and assets for the launch of the Fleet Xpress service.

OBJECTIVE

Design and produce a marketing tool kit for channel partners and direct end user campaigns.

AUDIENCE

Primary: Global partner network. End users: Global maritime markets.

OUTCOME

A comprehensive brief and extensive background information presented by the maritime marketing team allowed our designers to explore various creative approaches at the visual positioning stage of the project.

 

The complex and technically innovative service required a level of visualisation to communicate the features and benefits across every touchpoint of the Inmarsat brand with clarity and simplicity. The additional element of multiple platforms required a graphic treatment that was both scalable and optimised for use in digital and print contexts.

 

Saltwater Stone collaborated closely with the Inmarsat marketing team throughout the creative process. The goal was to convey simplicity and modernity, while preserving the company’s heritage and enormous brand equity.

 

Additionally, the client required a creative approach that reflected the innovation of Fleet Xpress, help position Inmarsat as a forward-thinking company as well as challenge the accepted standard in maritime communications marketing.

 

To create the new hero visual the designers isolated the key elements that make up the service in their purest forms; sea, ship and digital data (binary code). The crisp graphic look clearly expresses the connectivity Fleet Xpress delivers at ship level.

 

A custom set of icons was developed in support of the key visual to help communicate the benefits and values effectively and concisely in all media. These tools follow the distinctive Inmarsat colour palette and typographic

system and when combined enable the creation of a flexible yet consistent visual system to express a wide range of messages.

 

The resultant graphic elements were rolled out across all required deliverables and applications to produce a distinct visual identity for Fleet Xpress that works seamlessly across all print and digital platforms, at any scale without loss of impact or clarity.

Brand awareness and positioning in Europe for JL AUDIO, America’s leading marine audio manufacturer.

OBJECTIVE

To launch the JL AUDIO brand and product range at European boat and marine trade shows.

AUDIENCE

Primary: European retailers and manufacturers

End Users: Personal watercraft, RIBs and tenders, wake board boats, motoryachts and superyachts

OUTCOME

The client’s main objective was to raise the American brand’s profile throughout Europe and engage with consumers, large boat manufacturers and superyacht crew and service agents (such as captains, project managers and specifiers) who in turn will create

awareness to, and influence, potential retailers and installers.

 

Through close collaboration with the UK based European distributors of JL AUDIO it was agreed the existing brand personality and visual style needed to be developed to better suit European markets.

 

The Saltwater Stone design team created a series of graphic elements that could work harmoniously with the brand’s established visual identity system and reflect the heritage of the US company.

 

The program created a cohesive look and feel across all touchpoints of the brand, from event invitations, to social media channels, to music playlists. The new evolved identity helped reposition JL AUDIO from a relatively unknown American technology brand in Europe to a company of broader appeal, focused on user experience, innovation and excellence.

 

This new iteration of the JL AUDIO visual identity advances the idea of the marine audio experience. With refreshed imagery, new product photography and the introduction of a versatile soundwave graphic Saltwater Stone produced a creative and variable language that still provides the stability of a recognisable system.

 

Saltwater Stone is successfully raising awareness of the JL AUDIO brand through strong PR engagment in Europe and achieving consistent coverage of its new products and company news. As a result of the PR impact in Europe JL AUDIO were recently awarded the entire European market distributorship.

 

The media coverage achieved and through its many industry contacts, Saltwater Stone has helped JL AUDIO to develop its core dealership network and establish a number of high-profile boat builder partnerships which has resulted in them exclusively fitting JL AUDIO’s systems to their craft. Examples of these are Wahoo, Pascoe International and the soon to be launched Glider range of

luxury yachts.

 

Consistent media coverage combined with a close relationship with the marine media has resulted in Saltwater Stone being approached to write editorials about JL AUDIO for a range of publications such as Powerboat & RIB Magazine and the Superyacht Industry.

 

Saltwater Stone’s media buying influence has also been used to secure a favourable rate for a series of premium position advertisements for JL AUDIO in their prime target media titles. Since launching in Europe just over a year ago, JL AUDIO has built a comprehensive network of distributors in key European markets.

Coppercoat

PR, design, branding and direction for Coppercoat, the high performance antifoul coating.

 

Expansion of existing design and branding services to include PR, media planning and social media activity with particular focus on launching Coppercoat to the superyacht market.

Branding and communications for Coppercoat with a particular focus on launching Coppercoat to the superyacht market. In addition to offering strategic planning of Coppercoat’s branding and communications and continuation of all design requirements, Saltwater Stone will support Coppercoat at international boat shows.

OUTCOME

Saltwater Stone main aim was to raise awareness of Coppercoat antifoul and extend the brand’s global reach through its media contacts and social media channels and, secondly, to achieve consistent coverage of Coppercoat’s product and company news.

 

Through extensive contacts in the maritime media the Saltwater Stone PR team published and promoted editorials about the features and benefits of Coppercoat antifoul for a range of maritime publications.

 

The media planning department’s buying influence secured favourable rates for a series of advertising campaigns in prime target media titles.

 

The existing brand and marketing collateral was developed to launch Coppercoat Superyacht, a dedicated brand aimed at this high-end sector. Marketing collateral included print brochures, corporate stationery and exhibition stand for the British Marine Federation’s pavilion at the Monaco Yacht Show 2016. The design team developed digital sales presentations for the Coppercoat marketing team to use on exhibition stands at international boat shows and trade events.

 

Existing Coppercoat marketing collateral was strengthened and developed by our creative team to assist the PR and social media teams reach target markets. This included supporting a dedicated superyacht website, increasing online presence through social media, developing existing promotional materials, exhibition and event banners and print and online advertising.
